Looking for last minute deals?

"This was my first experience using a site other than the offical Delta website and I was sooooo happy with the price I found on my last minute trip. I got my ticket for $149 and the lowest price I had seen on Delta was $349! Thank you for making it possible for me to go visit my new granddaughter. I couldn't have afforded it otherwise."

Airbus Landing at Phoenix Sky Harbor

Phoenix is the capital and biggest city in the state of Arizona, as well as the 5th most populous city in the United States. This includes the cities of Scottsdale, Glendale, Tempe, and Mesa. The area's explosive expansion over the decade has made it one the biggest metropolitan areas in the country with 4,281,899 residents. Additionally, Phoenix is the county seat of Maricopa County, and is one of the biggest cities in the United States by land area.

Phoenix is located in the northeastern section of the Sonoran Desert. Due to it's location, Phoenix has the freshest climate of any major town in the United States. The average high temperatures are over 100F for a quarter out of the year, and have been known to peak over 120F. The consistently good weather provides for some of the fewest delays in the country at the major airport, Phoenix Sky Harbor. Phoenix was incorporated as a town in 1881 after being set up in 1868 close to the Salt River, near its confluence with the Gila River. Bright days and snug temperatures are the rule November through April, making this time the most delightful and popular time of the year to go to. There are many notable leaders that hail from Phoenicians including Barry Goldwater, William Rehnquist, John McCain, Janet Napolitano, Carl Hayden, and Sandra Day O'Connor.

The Phoenix metropolitan area offers many cultural activities, great shopping, and a variety of things to do, to both tourists and residents alike. There are several music venues in downtown and Scottsdale. These include, the Phoenix Symphony Hall and Orpheum Theater which hosts the performing arts. Concert venues include, the US Airways Center and the Dodge Theater. Also, there are several museums that can be found through the area including the Phoenix Art Museum and Heard Museum. Finally, Phoenix offers sports teams for all major sports including the Arizona Cardinals (NFL), Arizona Diamondbacks (MLB), Phoenix Suns (NBA), Phoenix Coyotes (NHL), and the Phoenix Mercury (WNBA).

In recent years, the growth of Phoenix has been astronomical, increasing it's population by 24.2% since 2000. Due to this growth, Phoenix is the second-fastest-growing region in the United States following only Las Vegas, whose population has grown slightly more since 2000. Recently, Phoenix was hit extremely hard by the subprime mortgage crisis. The median home price in early 2009 was $150,000, which is down significantly from the $262,000 peak. Additionally, the crime in Phoenix has decreased over the past few years. Many of the unsafe and troubled neighborhoods including South Mountain, Alhambra, and Maryvale have stablized making them much more livable than they were a few years back.
